On the occasion of the 75^th birthday of Wolfgang Brönner, this volume collects essays by renowned members of the "first generation" of monument conservators, whose activities in rehabilitating and conserving 19^th century architecture were spurred on by the European Year of Monument Preservation in 1975, which also figures prominently in the essays.
