Timber is a renewable material that also creates warm, welcoming spaces offering an emotional quality to their users. Light on Wood is a very personal story about how to design with mass timber. The pioneering architectural practice of atelierjones in Seattle, founded by Susan H. Jones, has diligently worked to decarbonize our built environment. In fact, it was one of the first practices in the US to use mass timber.Many beautiful buildings ensued over the past two decades, often developed in cooperation with local communities. But the office also investigated the behavior of CLT in case of fire and thus contributed to much-needed changes in building code.
