Felice Rix-Ueno studierte bei Josef Hoffmann, einem Mitbegründer der Wiener Werkstätte (1903–1932). Inspiriert von der japanischen Formensprache bildete sie einen eigenen Stil aus, der sich in besonders fantasievollen Stoff- und Tapetenmustern, Mode- und Wohnaccessoires sowie Wandmalereien ausdrückte. Nach ihrer Heirat mit dem japanischen Architekten Isaburo Ueno übersiedelte sie 1926 nach Japan. Dort entstanden gemeinsame Arbeiten, die viel Beachtung fanden, wie etwa die Star Bar in Kyoto, die 1932 in der berühmten Ausstellung Modern Architecture im New Yorker MoMa gezeigt wurde. Felice Rix-Ueno studied under Josef Hoffmann, a co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätte (1903–1932). Inspired by the Japanese formal language, she formed her own style, which was expressed in particularly imaginative fabric and wallpaper patterns, fashion and home accessories, and wall paintings. After her marriage to the Japanese architect Isaburo Ueno, she moved to Japan in 1926. There they created joint works that received much attention, such as the Star Bar in Kyoto, which was shown in the famous exhibition Modern Architecture in New York’s MoMa in 1932.
