Das Basler Architekturbüro Herzog & de Meuron nimmt weltweit eine führende Stellung in der zeitgenössischen Architektur ein. Ihr Werk zeichnet sich einerseits durch eine hohe Sensibilität im Umgang mit Materialien aus. The Basel based architecture practice of Herzog & de Meuron incontestably holds a leading position in contemporary architecture. Their projects are distinguished by a sensitive treatment of materials for which the architects are renowned. In addition, the Pritzker Prize-winning architects have developed a topographical conception of architecture that not only locates their buildings in a larger context, but also frequently structures them as landscapes themselves. 
The four volumes published so far extensively document all their projects which were started between 1978 and 2001, and are an indispensable reference work for architects. The fifth volume of the complete works is planned for 2015/2016.
